Through specialized processing, discarded fragments of Nishijin-ori fabric—once woven for Kyoto’s opulent obi sashes—are encased in transparent glass, ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical.

This auspicious pattern arranges white, red, and blue flowers within a structured hexagonal (kikkō) grid, traditionally symbolizing longevity and harmony. The floral elements breathe life into the geometric order, representing prosperity and refined beauty.

Set against a golden backdrop, the composition balances decorative richness with disciplined form. Blending geometry with nature, the motif exemplifies the elegance of classic Japanese design while maintaining a timeless, graceful appeal.

Rooted in upcycling and sustainability, this piece aligns with SDGs principles by repurposing exquisite fabrics that would otherwise go to waste. By preserving Kyoto’s textile heritage in a new form, it celebrates imperfection and honors the artisans who have upheld this tradition for centuries.

六角形の連続による亀甲構成に、白・赤・青の華文を配した吉祥意匠である。亀甲は長寿と安定を象徴し、規則的な構造は秩序と永続性を表す。そこに咲き誇る花々が加わることで、繁栄・調和・美の象徴として昇華されている。
