Created in collaboration with Nishijin-ori artisans, it merges the contrasts of soft textile and rigid glass, tradition and modernity. Through specialized processing, discarded fragments of Nishijin-ori fabric—once woven for Kyoto’s opulent obi sashes—are encased in transparent glass, ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical.

Shippo (seven treasures) is a traditional Japanese pattern of interlocking circles, symbolizing infinite harmony and enduring connections. In this design, floral hanabishi diamond motifs are interwoven into the structure, with vine-like accents at the intersections.

The colorful blossoms emerge within the geometric framework, creating a sense of rhythm and movement. With its blend of classic patterning and modern coloration, this motif offers a refined fusion of tradition and contemporary elegance.

Rooted in upcycling and sustainability, this piece aligns with SDGs principles by repurposing exquisite fabrics that would otherwise go to waste. By preserving Kyoto’s textile heritage in a new form, it celebrates imperfection and honors the artisans who have upheld this tradition for centuries.

七宝文様は、円形が連続して繋がることで永遠の連鎖や人と人との縁を象徴する、代表的な吉祥文様です。本作では、その構造の中に花菱を織り交ぜ、交点には唐草風のアクセントを加えることで、柔らかさと動きを生み出しております。

彩り豊かな花菱が幾何学的な構成の中に浮かび上がることで、視覚的なリズムと奥行きをもたらしています。古典的な文様構造に、現代的な色彩感覚を組み合わせることで、伝統とモダンが融合した洗練された意匠となっております。

アップサイクルとサステイナビリティの理念に基づいて制作された本作品は、本来であれば廃棄されるはずの素晴らしい生地を再利用することにより、SDGsの原則に則ったものとなっております。京都の織物遺産を新たな形で保存し、不完全さを美として称えるとともに、何世紀にもわたってこの伝統を守り続けてきた職人の皆様に敬意を表しています。
