Through specialized processing, discarded fragments of Nishijin-ori fabric—once woven for Kyoto’s opulent obi sashes—are encased in transparent glass, ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical.

This noble motif centers on the mythical phoenix (hōō), a symbol of peace and imperial virtue, encircled by stylized Tang-style flowers that represent idealized beauty and harmony. Together, they form an auspicious composition rooted in both myth and elegance.

Woven with delicate gold and green threads against a silver ground, the design radiates quiet grandeur and spiritual refinement. It reflects the high ceremonial aesthetics seen in court garments and sacred weaves from the Heian to Momoyama periods.

Rooted in upcycling and sustainability, this piece aligns with SDGs principles by repurposing exquisite fabrics that would otherwise go to waste. By preserving Kyoto’s textile heritage in a new form, it celebrates imperfection and honors the artisans who have upheld this tradition for centuries.

想像上の瑞鳥・鳳凰を中央に据え、その周囲を理想化された花である唐花で囲んだ、荘厳かつ優美な構成の吉祥文様である。鳳凰は平和と繁栄の象徴であり、天子の出現や世の泰平を告げる存在とされる。

銀地に金と緑の糸を用いた繊細な織りは、清らかさと高貴さを兼ね備え、静かなる威厳を放っている。平安時代から桃山時代にかけての装束や神事織にも見られる典型的な構成であり、格式・信仰・美意識を結晶させた伝統意匠である。
