Created in collaboration with Nishijin-ori artisans, it merges the contrasts of soft textile and rigid glass, tradition and modernity. Through specialized processing, discarded fragments of Nishijin-ori fabric—once woven for Kyoto’s opulent obi sashes—are encased in transparent glass, ensuring that no two pieces are ever identical.

This pattern features a bold geometric composition of muted vermilion, gold, and silver, evoking the traditional kirihaku technique—where gold and silver foil are applied with delicate irregularity. The slightly weathered texture suggests the quiet passage of time.

Diagonal divisions add subtle dynamism, drawing the viewer’s gaze gently across the surface. The design blends historical richness with abstract minimalism, offering a serene, timeworn elegance that resonates with modern sensibilities.

Rooted in upcycling and sustainability, this piece aligns with SDGs principles by repurposing exquisite fabrics that would otherwise go to waste. By preserving Kyoto’s textile heritage in a new form, it celebrates imperfection and honors the artisans who have upheld this tradition for centuries.

京都の洗練された美意識とクラフツマンシップを体現する唯一無二のガラスプレート。西陣織の職人とのコラボレーションにより、柔らかな織物と硬質なガラス、伝統と現代のコントラストを融合させた。かつて京都の豪華な帯のために織られた西陣織の反物を、特殊な加工を施すことで透明なガラスに封じ込め、同じものは二つとない。

落ち着いた朱と金銀を用いて構成された幾何文様であり、伝統的な「切箔」技法を想起させるかすれた質感が特徴である。古典的な装飾の重厚感と、抽象表現の軽やかさが調和している。

対角線を活かした構図は、画面に動きを与えながらも静けさを保ち、見る者の視線を自然に誘導する。華美に偏らず、経年変化の美や「時間の痕跡」を織り込んだ、詩情ある現代的な意匠である。
